Guitar Hero III and Seizures
By Dennis Grubbs
Guitar Hero, XBOX 360 and Seizures I recently gave my XBOX 360 to my Brother-In-Law. He has become disabled due to his lifelong battle with seizures. I don't know if it is permanent, or if it is temporary and something they may be able to fix medically. One of the spots on his brain is near his memory, and another near his speech... so it is a sensitive subject. He basically started having these seizures so often that he couldn't even drive his own vehicle or do anything else for that matter. The seizures pretty much made it impossible for him to work, operate machinery (like a lawnmower), and fish. What else is there for a man to do? I needed to find something for him to be able to do, so he wouldn't be so damn bored around the house. I gave him my XBOX 360. Do I still play it? Of course. But I figure he could get better use out of it than me. They had Call of Duty II, NBA Live 2007, and Madden NFL 2007. They added to that arsenal by going out and purchasing Guitar Hero III and Cabelas Dangeragous Hunts 2008. Both very fun and challenging games. I played Guitar Hero III non-stop for 2 whole days. That game is very addictive. You get to do everything from unlock "Slash" from "Guns N Roses", and have a guitar battle with the devil himself with Charlie Daniels' "Devil Went Down to Georgia". After I unlocked all of the songs on the easy level, my Brother-In-Law was in disbelief when he found out it had Guns N Roses, Metallica, and The Who, a few of his favorite artists. I basically mastered all but one song on the easy level in 2 days. Of course in the process I lost all feeling in the finger tips on my left hand, and got a big crick in my neck. Yes Guitar Hero III Rocks! However, there is little chance that I will be able to proceed any further than the easy level. The higher levels are just insane. I don't see how anyone could read the notes and chords as fast as they progress down the screen. My Brother-In-Law is getting better at it. It is kinda cool because if it is played on the full speed then you get used to the notes by listening to the riffs from the song. But I guess the main thing is that it accomplished my goal of giving my Brother-In-Law something to do besides being bored to death. |
