Chevrolet My fascination with Chevrolet began at a very early age. Ever since I can remember I have loved Chevrolet. Not that there is anything wrong with other manufacturers of automobiles, but I just love Chevrolet.
I can go through a very long list of some my favoritte Chevrolets. In fact I could start with the ones I have owned. Although one is not actually a Chevy, I will count it since it was made by General Motors, which is practically the same thing.
The very first car I had was a 1983 98 Regency Oldsmobile. My mother loved classy cars so she bought this one. Classy for country folks I guess. I loved this car and hated this car. It basically was like driving a big boat on wheels. But good god would that car flat out haul ass. That is why I loved the car. I can still smell the carberator... Did I spell that right? Probably not. Check it later.
Moving along, after that car when I graduated high school I got my first Chevrolet. It was truck. It was the most kick ass vehicle I have ever owned. I still have it to this day. It was a 1988 Chevy Scottsdale. They don't make them anymore. And they definitely don't make them like mine.
It had a 5.7 Liter V8 Engine that made my Oldsmobile look like it was sitting still. It was my first experience with Fuel Injection. It was also my first experience with a lot of other things. Like Glass Packs, and hot chicks drooling more over my ride than they did over me. It was also my first experience with law enforcement encounters. Hell one of my favoritte things about my truck was if you drove faster than 85 miles per hour, it would change the speedometer gauge from white to black and start going around again.
Yeah. This is good. I remember the first time I got pulled over in it. I had only owned the vehicle for oh, about 3 hours. Yep. That is how long it took. The cops clocked me doing 65 in a 35. I didn't have insurance on the vehicle. I didn't even have the title proving the vehicle was mine yet. Hell, the bank hadn't even officially given me the loan yet. I was to take care of that the next day.
I have never been so scared in my life. This copy was the biggest copy on the force. He was probably 6' 5" and 280 pounds of muscle. If it hadn't been for my cousin stopping to talk to him, I probably wouldn't gone to jail for stealing a vehicle I already owned... sort of. Yeah he used to pull my cousin over all the time for doing the crazy crap they did in the 70's. I loved that truck and refuse to sell it.
I have had quite a few wrecks in it. One that really scared me. I thought I was headed for certain death. I was doing about 90 miles an hour on curvy back road. Yeah I know. That truck just gave me a lead foot. Anyways, it started fishtailing and I lost control went off the road backwards. I thought I was going to flip it, but it landed on all 4 wheels like a cat. I hit the emergency brake. I hit the regular brake. I didn't think it would ever stop. I had gone through a field and stopped just 10 feet short of a creek that had about a 4 foot drop off.
I didn't even put the vehicle in park. I just jumped out, and I was like, "Oh my god. I'm alive. I'm alive!". Yeah. That didn't slow me down one single bit. I still drive fast to this day. But I get a little nervous on wet roads, because I had that wreck on a wet road.
Another time I was delivering pizza in this vehicle going too fast down a narrow back road. I came up on one of those bridges that have a steep incline before you actually are on the bridge. I jumped that bridge like I was Bo/Luke Duke in the Duke's of hazard. Yep. I had my truck completely airborn. That was the coolest thing I have done in my life.
I could write all day about the stories of me and my truck. Like the time I was cruising the strip the summer before college with 15 girls in the back of my truck doing the macarena. That was wild night. Good times. Good times indeed.
The next vehicle I owned was a Chevy Aveo. It is the vehicle I currently drive. I like this car, because it has nice pickup, but it still isn't my truck. In my experience it just seems like all the Chevy's I have owned handled really, really well.
I didn't actually consider a car, because I wanted a new truck. But when my truck was in the shop getting maintenance done on it, I rented a vehicle so I could get to and from work. It was an Aveo and I just kind of fell in love with it. I had considered other manufacturers, but I just keep going back to Chevrolets.
That is just the vehicles I have owned. My favoritte sports is now and always has been, and always will be the Chevy Corvette. I think it is just the coolest looking car with the coolest sound in the world. One day I will own a Corvette.
The other is the Camaro. I loved the Camaro when it was out, because it was like an affordable version of the Corvette. I can't wait until the new Camaro comes out. I may just go out and buy one of those cars. Since I can't afford a Corvette yet.
Anywho... that is my love of Chevy's, and hope you enjoyed this little tidbit of information about my history with those vehicles.
